Lyrics : You Can Run But You Can't Hide
Jonah was a prophet, called and chosen by the Lord
To go down to Nineveh, and proclaim His holy Word
To preach against the wickedness, and the evils of the town
To tell the people there, God’s judgement’s coming down.
But Jonah did not want to go instead He ran away
He got on board a ship, and he sailed the other way
He thought that he could run away from the call upon his life
Though he was a prophet somehow he didn’t realize.
You can run but you can’t hide....no,  you can run but you can’t hide
It doesn’t matter where you’re running to, He’s already there
You simply can’t run from the Lord, when He is everywhere,
You can run but you can’t hide, no,you can run but you can’t hide.
Now the Lord, He sent a mighty storm, and caused the wind to blow
And waves as big as mountains tossed that ship back to and fro
The men feared they would perish, but Jonah knew it was the Lord
So he turned and told the sailors to throw him overboard.
Well the Lord still had a plan, so He did not let Jonah drown
He sent along a mighty fish who swallowed Jonah down
For three long days, Jonah prayed in the belly of that fish
God heard his cry for mercy, and gave him a second chance.
Now the moral of this story is a lesson for today
When you hear the Spirit calling you, take heed and obey
You see, the Lord, He has a purpose, and a calling for your life
So don’t be another Jonah, and refuse to pay the price.
