Between the Lines

Her life had been bumpy, to say the least...Her life had been bumpy, to say the least...In 1998 my sister-in-law asked me to write a song for my niece's baptism...(she was only a few months old at the time). As I was writing the song the Lord reminded me of something that had been spoken over me a few years before... “I sense there wasn't much of a celebration on earth the day you were born, but I want you to know there was a celebration in heaven” That message ended up in the chorus with the line "All of heaven celebrated the day that you were born"   I sang the original song at her baptism.

A couple of years later the Lord had me re-write the song so it could be applicable to anyone.

The first verse and the chorus remained the same, the other two verses were changed. Since then It is probably the one song that has had the most impact on people's lives.

I was on a mission trip to Jamaica with the youth of our Church. Our leader/guide had grown up there and carried deep wounds from the past (which I didn't know at the time).

The Lord made a way for me to sing that song in four different locations.

After we returned my Pastor said to me “you did with one song what I couldn't do with three years of counseling” (he had been her pastor for three years).

In 2014 I met a Pastor who was in prison ministry. Her life had been bumpy, to say the least, and when she heard me sing the song, the Lord captured her heart. She asked me to sing it in both the institutions she was ministering in at the time, and it had its impact. Every time I see here now, she asks me to play “Precious” (here the name for the song, for it has become precious to her)... Somehow the song is always fresh... it's always new...
